Production: When we started filming, we had some hard time getting the lighting right- because of this we had to put the iso above 800 for 3 or 4 shots. This was also our first time using DSLR cameras on manual, although some shots turned out well, others did not.The ISO caused the footage to be grainy in some circumstances because of the natural lighting being too bright. We have learnt from this and now know how to improve and make shots better. We also had an issue with one of our team not turning up when needed. We also had an issue with people walking into shot when we needed a clear shot.
Post Production: There weren't too many issue when editing, Apart from getting sound in time with the footage. For example, the knocking had to be edited so that it was actually in time. Another issue was that some of our footage didn't fit as well as it could have, or some of it looked bad and we couldn't use it. After getting used to the editing software however it was simple enough to get an outcome we were happy with. We could have improved by timing the music in the background more accurately, but overall the video looks alright. If given more time, we probably could have found music that more fit our video, and would have made more sense.
Continuity: We had issues with the weather in the shots, because of this we had to restart and film every shot again after the first day. A slight continuity error could be seen when Phil is walking to the door, it partially looks like he has stopped. to improve this and make it more continuous we could have kept the pan going a bit longer so that we can clearly see that he is still walking. Another issue could have been when a student walked in shot and you can't see him in the shot afterwards. We could have done the shot again to make it better, but we didn't have enough time to get another shot unfortunately. Now that we know how to solve these issues, we are able to avoid them in our next video.
In conclusion, although we did struggle with some of the continuity and video taking, we got used to it after a while and ended up creating a video that wasn't half bad for our first try. We now know how to improve and have an idea of how to get a decent video out. This better understanding would mean that the next video we make could be a lot better than this one. We would make an effort to use more artificial lighting next time and try to get clearer, more high definition shots, with editing looking soother and shots having no continuity errors.
